Jet Set is a sitting room cum airplane: an object d’art in an imaginary installation.
“It’s important to produce functional products,” asserts Jaime Hayon. “However, it is equally vital to give free rein to beauty, emotions, uniqueness.” This dazzling mosaic- clad jet, presented during the Salone in 2008, is a perfect case in point. “I like the idea of being able to create a fun, more sophisticated version of an object as serious and functional as an airplane,” he adds. At the back of it is a white leather circular couch and Hayon imagines it “flying out a couple of lovers drinking champagne to deliver energy and good vibes across their journey.”
