Clown Sofa / Bird Sofa

The two playful circular sofas topped by cartoon-like heads, are dated from 2008. They were first presented at the Courtray Design Biennale Interieur in Belgium, as Jaime Hayon was invited as guest of Honour.
My thought was to make something that could be both a sculpture and a functional object. Typically, in my work between design and art, I try to mingle the two. I feel this is an object in which a gallery owner would see art and a designer would see its use: a sofa. There are no categories, asking whether something is Design or Art has, I believe, become a thing of the past.
