Muri Evanescenti (Evanescent Walls)

Michele de Lucchi & AMDL Circle

“We work on exploring the detail, the particular, in order to build spaces made not from a single element or material but from many small pieces to create a fragmented visual effect, as in a kaleidoscope.” - Michele De Lucchi & AMDL CIRCLE

The site-specific installation Muri Evanescenti (Evanescent Walls), signed by architect Michele De Lucchi and his multidisciplinary studio, AMDL CIRCLE, explores the concept of the "wall": from its role of protection and support, to its deeper and more material essence, the capacity to become light, non-uniform.

Muri Evanescenti conveys the unique design vocabulary of architect De Lucchi and AMDL CIRCLE and reinterprets the studio's most distinctive architectural textures in black-and-white mosaic. 25 motifs - each in positive and negative - give rise to a ncomposition covering walls and ceiling with small 10x10mm mosaic tiles. Dark patterns envelop the walls, fully covering the vault and gradually lightening upward in a play of solids and voids.

Six wooden models of the studio's iconic projects and two Produzione Privata © modular screens complete the installation. They vividly showcase the "permeable wall" concept, blending lights and darks, natural and artificial light, connecting the spaces and those who live them.

AMDL CIRCLE is a multidisciplinary studio founded by Michele De Lucchi, a protagonist of global design culture and a leading figure in the Alchimia and Memphis movements.
The studio's humanistic approach draws from De Lucchi's professional expertise and his artistic and theoretical research, focused on projects that prioritize human well-being, the nurturing of spaces, and a dialogue with time. Operating worldwide in architecture, interiors, product design, and graphics, AMDL CIRCLE blends technical and cultural expertise with industrial and artisanal processes. The studio’s open circle logo symbolizes an inclusive, ever-evolving vision dedicated to exploring architecture's future and its responsibilities.
