“The Art of Detail: from Mosaic to Mega-Project”

Florentine designer Luca Dini – founder and CEO of LUCA DINI Design & Architecture – will be the guest of honor at Fondazione Bisazza, delivering a lecture entitled “The Art of Detail: from Mosaic to Mega-Project”, a journey into the heart of the creative and design process.

Detail, often perceived as a marginal element, becomes for Dini the true DNA of every project: what builds identity, generates dialogue with its context, and bridges the micro and macro scale. From a mosaic fragment composing a complex pattern to the bow of a yacht or the façade of a tower, detail takes on a universal value, capable of uniting craftsmanship and innovation.

In his talk, Dini will explore how detail is not only about aesthetics but also about function, ethics, and responsibility: from the choice of sustainable materials to technological research, all the way to the pursuit of human comfort as a new form of luxury. Through concrete examples, such as his yachts and international architectural projects, he will show how the strength of a project lies precisely in its ability to transform details into a larger narrative, one that brings together beauty, technology, and vision.

LUCA DINI
Luca Dini, born in 1967, has been working in the nautical world for more than 30 years, with a focus on both the exterior and interior design of super and megayachts. In more recent years, he also decided to enter the field of architecture and urban design. Florence is his hometown and the fulcrum of his history. Here he enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture, a course of study that, however, he is forced to interrupt early due to a serious family bereavement that pushes him to immediately enter the world of work.

His passion for naval design was developed in Livorno, where, little more than a boy, he came across the Nabila, referred to in the 1970s as the “most spectacular boat in the world.”

In 1987, he began his professional experience in the studio of Architect Pierluigi Spadolini in Florence where he began working on the design of large yachts and developed his own innovative style that over the years has made him unique. It was precisely this kind of training in the field that led him to coin for himself the term “non-architect architect.”

In 1996, he founded his own studio in Florence, LUCA DINI Design & Architecture, at first dedicated exclusively to the design of super and megayachts, and soon became one of the protagonists of design in the nautical sector on an international level. Luca Dini establishes himself as a visionary designer and initiates several partnerships and collaborations.

His great passion for travel, art, and the pursuit of beauty, which is inspired by the city of Florence, allows him to develop a strong international network, working for large shipowners and prestigious clients, whose needs he is able to interpret with custom-designed yachts.

For me, the greatest satisfaction is seeing the sparkle in the eyes of my clients. Something that goes beyond a job well done. Something that resembles a dream come true.
